A major factor in the success of the student will be parent involvement in the program.
The Donald M. Taylor Aeronautical Academy is in the formative stages of a partnership with the Imagine Schools organization in the State of Maryland. Imagine Schools currently operate 72 public charter schools in the United States and the District of Columbia.
Objectives
• Provide an opportunity for young adults to enter the professional field of aviation directly from high school.
• Prepare students who plan to study the field of aviation science at the college level.
• Provide graduating students the opportunity for entrepreneurial aviation endeavors.
• Bring community awareness of the aviation field and its potential benefits through student involvement.
Curriculum
The curriculum for the Donald M. Taylor Aeronautical Academy will be designed with the nationally recognized Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Classroom instructions at off-site aviation facilities will comprise nearly 50% of total class time. Teacher and aviation instructors will be selected based on competency in their fields of expertise. The Academy will embrace all stakeholder groups including students, parents, community and business leaders, educators, and administrators.
